"System Configuration Utility" Error Message
Entered System Configuration Utility (SCU) for a clean boot while uninstalling and reinstalling a couple of Norton programs. (There was an unexpected glitch in the process, which led to both of the programs being upgrading, as well.) When all was said and done, I returned to the SCU to change back to a Normal Startup; the following error message appeared: "An Access Denied error was returned while attempting to change a service. You may need to log on using an Administrator account to make the specified changes." Norton Customer Service claims this is a Microsoft issue, even though in the several years since I've had this system I've NEVER received this message. There are no other users; I am the Administrator. Norton claims there is nothing they can tweak, and that uninstalling and reinstalling may not fix the problem. I suspect a simple Windows configuration issue, possibly involving the Registry, but don't know how to proceed.7 people need an answerI do too
